In the Provençal landscapes, slender cypresses stand tall and stretch upwards, as if yearning to touch the heavens. Sunflowers, radiant bursts of sunlight, dot the fields with their golden faces. Poppy flowers sway gently in the breeze, dispelling the lingering numbness of winter. Lavender fields come alive, capturing the sun’s radiance, and streaks of purple and yellow intertwine. Whilst apricots add a touch of sweetness to the air, their orange hues mirror the sunsets that grace the horizon. Together, they weave the eternal dance of life.
In the exhibition titled “Enduring Memory,” presented by Yidi Art, French contemporary artist Silvio Mildo draws inspiration from the picturesque landscapes of Provence and the emblematic fruit of Armenia—the apricot. Interweaving his childhood memory and the sensations of the landscapes, the artist materializes how nature has shaped the very essence of his identity. Incorporating gestural movements, forms, landscapes, geometries and strokes, his rebellious abstract and figurative approach to paintings acts as escapism. It also allows him to explore his existence and the connection with the world around us, whilst serving as a visual diary documenting his intimate life. Oscillating between the past, present and future, Mildo draws viewers to a soul-stirring odyssey of self-discovery, unlocking the hidden corners of our senses.
