Takuto Kadokura a.k.a. 22nd Century Jedi is a Japanese contemporary artist born in Saitama, Japan, and graduated from Bachelor’s of Art in Fashion, SDF (Department of Scenography, Display and Fashion Design) at Musashino Art University.
During his time as a pattern designer at COMME des GARÇONS, Kadokura started crafting necklaces adorned with motifs inspired by anime series such as "Pretty Cure." These creations caught the attention of many as they were showcased on various social media platforms under the moniker "22nd Century Jedi," elevating the artist's prominence. Following his decision to pursue an independent path, Kadokura explores the theme of "things that approach" through the medium of painting, exhibiting the works under the name "Takuto Kadokura." His oeuvre comes to life with an array of uniquely shaped plants and individuals, meticulously arranged and enhanced by eye-catching colour combinations.
Kadokura’s work has been exhibited in various exhibitions and solo shows include: “Speed Requiem” (Gallery 10 [THO], Tokyo, 2023); “Perfect World” (Shimokitazawa Arts, Tokyo, 2023); “Impossible to Say the Best One as They Are All Cute in Their Own Way” (WISHLESS Gallery, Tokyo, 2022); “An Ideal Pot” (STEIN BOX, Tokyo, 2021); “Girls within Flowers within a Department Store” (Seibu Shibuya, Tokyo, 2021); “The Sun” (The Artist’s Residence, Tokyo, 2020); and “Rituals to Self-Congratulate” (Shinjuku Ganka Art Gallery, Tokyo, 2020). Dual exhibition includes: “Drawing Factory” (Ameyoko Center Building, Tokyo, 2022). Group exhibitions include: “Lovely” (OIL by Bijutsu Techo, Tokyo, 2022); “Familiae Sylanian” (Art Lab Tokyo/ AKIBA, Tokyo, 2021); and “Shibuya-Style” (Seibu Shibuya, Tokyo, 2019)
