Silvio Mildo

Exhibited Artist

Silvio Mildo was born in Marseille in 1992. His father is of Portuguese origin and his mother is of Armenian descent. From childhood, he developed a strong interest in art. However, it was as a self-taught artist at the age of 22 that he became a painter. After discovering and exploring graffiti, he moved away from it to embrace a studio practice influenced by various styles, from abstract expressionism to the COBRA movement, from Alechinsky to Robert Combas. "I don't belong to any school," he insists. "I try to remain free in my approach to painting and not to conform to any rules, while keeping in mind the work of my predecessors."

For the artist, creation is a matter of energy and movement. Silvio Mildo approaches painting with spontaneity, in a quasi-impulsive way. Abstract and sometimes primitive, his works capture the burst of his thoughts, memories, and emotions, offering themselves as a logbook of his intimate life and states of mind. "I am the very expression of myself at the moment I paint," he explains. "My canvas is the only place in the world where I have power and absolute freedom of my thoughts and movements, where nothing gets in the way."
